RESPONSIBILITIES
- This position is for Centre for Teaching Excellence (CTE).
- Design, prototype, and iterate on AI-enabled teaching tools, such as digital assistants, automated feedback generators, and analytics platforms.
- Work with IT teams to integrate AI tools into existing systems e.g., LMS and other platforms.
- Support the implementation and evaluation of pedagogical experiments involving AI, contributing to design-based research efforts that assess educational impact and user experience.
- Work with faculty and academic units to co-create classroom-ready AI use cases, ensuring alignment with learning outcomes and instructional goals.
- Develop and deploy learning analytics solutions that generate insights into student engagement, performance, and academic challenges.
- Stay up to date with emerging AI platforms and recommend appropriate applications.
- Partner with data analysts and educational researchers to translate AI-generated insights into actionable strategies for teaching enhancement and curriculum refinement.
- Conduct workshops, demos, and one-on-one consultations with Faculty.
- Engage with internal stakeholders including CTE units, Faculty Development, Educational Research, and Technology to build institutional capacity and educator confidence in adopting AI meaningfully and ethically.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
- 5 years of relevant work experience, with at least 2 to 3 years in designing and developing AI-powered and online learning solutions and experiences, preferably within higher education institutions.
- Competent in programming languages such as Python and JavaScript; experience with AI frameworks, APIs, and cloud platforms.
- Familiarity with generative AI platforms (e.g. ChatGPT, Claude, CoPilot, Gemini, etc.), natural language processing (NLP), and chatbot frameworks.
- Familiarity with developing, deploying full-stack applications.
- Familiarity in building custom dashboards e.g. Power BI.
- Experience working in educational settings or with non-technical stakeholders, with the ability to translate user needs into effective technical solutions.
- Familiarity with LMS platforms (e.g., D2L, Canvas), educational data standards, and learning analytics tools would be advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills and a user-centred design mindset.
- Strong project, resource, and people management skills.

- Strong command of both written and spoken English.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to multitask.
- A motivated self-starter and team player who is resourceful and able to work independently.
