About the Role
We are seeking an Application Engineer specializing in Trade Finance to provide end-to-end application support and drive digital solutions for our trade platforms. You’ll design, implement, and optimize systems while managing CI/CD pipelines, vendor relationships, and stakeholder collaboration in a dynamic banking environment.
Key Responsibilities
Solution Design & Implementation
- Partner with business users, IT teams, and vendors to design, develop, and deploy Trade Finance solutions.
- Translate business needs into technical specifications, ensuring process standardization and compliance.
- Review deliverables from vendors/teams and validate requirements for operational efficiency.
- Stay updated on industry trends (e.g., blockchain in trade finance, API banking).
- Problem Solving & Incident Management
- Resolve production issues with IT suppliers to minimize business disruption.
- Lead vendor negotiations for optimal IT solutions and cost efficiency.
- Build trusted relationships with stakeholders (operations, compliance, tech teams).
CI/CD & DevOps Leadership
- Design automated packaging/deployment strategies for seamless software delivery.
- Optimize CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab) and artifact management (Nexus).
- Streamline SDLC with tools like TWS Scheduler and Apache HTTP Server.
Technical Development & Support
Develop/maintain applications using:
- Frontend: Angular, JavaScript, HTML/CSS
- Backend: Java/Spring Boot, Python, Elixir
- Databases: Oracle, MariaDB, MS SQL
- Middleware: JBOSS, MQ, Connect Direct
- Support Kafka-based event streaming and Unix shell scripting.
Qualifications
Must-Have:
- Bachelor’s in computer science/engineering or related field.
- 4+ years in corporate banking IT (Trade Finance, Loans, Payments).
- Hands-on experience with Java, Angular, CI/CD tools, and RDBMS.
- Knowledge of SDLC, Agile, and testing methodologies.
- Strong problem-solving and stakeholder management skills.
Nice-to-Have:
- Exposure to trade finance platforms (e.g., CGI Trade360, Surecomp).
- Certifications in DevOps, Cloud (AWS/Azure), or banking technologies.
- Familiarity with regulatory standards (UCP600, ISBP).
