An Assistant Cook supports the Head Cook or Chef in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of meals in a kitchen. They ensure that kitchen operations run smoothly by assisting with food preparation, maintaining cleanliness, and following food safety standards.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in preparing ingredients (chopping, peeling, cutting, marinating, etc.).
- Cook simple dishes under the supervision of the Head Cook or Chef.
- Follow recipes and portion control guidelines.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and workstations.
- Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment as needed.
- Store food items properly and monitor inventory levels.
- Follow all food safety and hygiene standards.
- Assist in receiving and storing kitchen supplies and deliveries.
- Help with plating and garnishing dishes before serving.
- Report any kitchen equipment issues or maintenance needs.
