It was the largest insurance deal in Singapore at the time. Singlife was subsequently acquired by Sumitomo Life in March 2024, one of Japan’s leading life insurers, which valued Singlife at S$4.6 billion, making the transaction one of the largest insurance deals in Southeast Asia.
Key Responsibilities
Drive innovation in actuarial processes and capital management techniques.- Conduct various sensitivity tests including MAS Stress Test, Own Risk and Solvency Assessment (ORSA), Target Margin.
- Perform experience studies on persistency, premium holiday, partial surrender, and investment margin.
- Review of Internal Governance Process (IGP), Provision of Adverse Deviation (PAD) assumption and Homogeneous Risk Grouping (HRG) annually.
- Perform Business plan and forecasting exercise.
- Assist with internal/external audits.
- Prepare materials for Board, Assumption Committee, Risk Committee.
- Produce quarterly Analysis of Profit (AOP) report with detailed analysis.
- Conduct annual Bonus Study, Investigation and Announcement for Participating (PAR) products.
- Conduct close monitoring of the Matching Adjustment portfolio to ensure compliance with regulatory requirement including performing monthly cash flow matching test and preparing quarterly MAS reports.
- Participate in ICS and J-ESR field testing.
Requirements
Experience
4 to 5 years of experience in the actuarial field, with a focus on life valuation reporting.- Strong understanding of the Singapore insurance regulatory environment (RBC2); experience with ICS is an advantage.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and actuarial modelling software (Prophet).
- Self-driven, with excellent teamwork and collaboration skills with internal and external stakeholders.
Education
Academic: Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics or Statistics (preferred).- Professional Certification(s): Nearly qualified or making good progress in actuarial exams with an internationally recognized actuarial body.
