As Director, Design based in our Singapore HQ, you will report to the Vice President Product and Design and work closely with our other regional Product and Design teams and leadership across the Asia Pacific region, making your mark in a number of ways:
- Develops and provides strategy, vision and direction to design functions. Implements company-wide policies and practices. Comprehensive understanding of the overall company and competitive environment.
- Leads design services activities through subordinate directors/ managers who have overall responsibility for the successful operation of assigned areas. Oversees design team to develop new methods and solve company-wide matters.
- Lead a talented regional team in SG and JB and possibly into new regions, working closely with cross-functional teams to develop and deliver market-leading solutions that meet customer needs and align with business goals.
Your Day to Day
- Through design manager/director subordinates, manage the consultants and design teams during the different phases of the design development.
- Internal stakeholder engagement with other parts of the AirTrunk delivery team including Development, Commissioning and Operations, or others as needed, to ensure best outcomes for AirTrunk.
- External stakeholder engagement with customers, suppliers and partners.
- Responsible for ensuring quality assurance and design checks are undertaken on the consultant design documentation.
- Oversee the technical aspects of direct procured equipment and facilitate their interface with the design team.
- Define the environmentally sustainable design goals for each project and for the different regions.
- Define the engineering solutions for each region and project, engaging in research and development activities focusing on identifying the optimal solutions.
- Understand the commercial implications of engineering decisions.
- Contribute to AirTrunk’s internal technical learning and strategic projects in your area of expertise.
- Team planning, training and mentoring, to achieve consistent and scalable outcomes.
Requirements
- You have led a team of technical people in a client side, consultancy or contractor role to deliver major Data Centre projects.
- You have a Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field such as engineering, science or architecture and at least 15years experience in the industry.
- You have sound understanding of multi-disciplinary building services design, ideally with some understanding of Civil, Structural Architectural (CSA) disciplines.
- Ideally, you have experience working for a Data Centre operator and previous hyperscale design and cloud experience in the APAC market.
- You are incredibly flexible and adaptable to a dynamic fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- You are willing to make decisions and be accountable for them.
- You excel at communication; you can deliver effective presentations on Data Centre operations to customers, peers and management.
- You have good leadership acumen to lead multi-disciplinary teams.
