Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented Estimator (Electrical) to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for electrical works in construction and industrial projects.
Main Duties:
- Review tender documents and requests for proposals (RFP) to understand project scope and requirements.
- Interpret engineering documentation such as drawings, specifications, and scope of works for accurate estimating.
- Prepare detailed quantity and component take-offs based on technical drawings and specifications.
- Provide timely clarifications during the tender/RFP process.
- Maintain and document bid project information flow.
- Develop competitive industry schedule of rates for take-offs.
- Validate and create Bill of Materials (BOM) rates using first-principle build-ups.
Other Duties:
- Support team members in estimating and tendering activities.
- Coordinate with Engineering, Procurement, and Commercial departments to resolve scope gaps.
- Adhere to corporate policies and guidelines.
Requirements
Experience & Skills:
- Prior electrical cost estimating experience in the construction industry.
- Industrial project cost estimating experience (desirable but not mandatory).
- Experience supporting medium to large-scale projects.
- Proficient in preparing, coordinating, and consolidating estimating activities.
- Knowledge of first-principle pricing (desirable but not mandatory).
- Experience in cost planning.
- Strong understanding of estimating electrical works, including:
Power (HV, MV, LV) equipment: Switchgears, transformers, generators, UPS
Distribution & containment, lighting, earthing, lightning protection - Advantageous to have experience estimating ELV systems such as:
Facility Management System, IT & Communication, Fire Alarm, Access Control & CCTV, Public Address System - Strong communication skills to liaise with various project stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline preferred.
- Relevant certifications in estimating or project management will be an advantage.
