My client is an owner and provider of dry bulk vessels for charter. They are looking for a Freight Analyst to work closely with the research and commercial teams. The initial focus will be on building models and databases. Subsequently, the candidate is expected to provide insights and fundamental analysis on the supply and demand of grains and oilseeds markets. Ultimately, the candidate will need to integrate commodities knowledge into freight and contribute to formulating trading strategies.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct fundamental analysis and provide clear short-term and long-term forecast on seaborne grains flows.
- Develop and maintain demand and supply models of major grains and oilseeds products, such as soybean, corn and wheat.
- Monitor daily news to identify and flag potential risks or changes in market condition that could affect forecast.
- Ability to package valuable insights and translate market impact effectively to stakeholders.
- Build and maintain network in the grains industry for market data and crosschecking information
Skills Required:
- Ideally 2 - 3 years of experience in agriculture commodities and freight shipping research , with a solid contact network within the industry.
- Possess strong in-depth analytical skills, and is meticulous and organized
- Inquisitive and self-motivated individual who can work autonomously and collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
- SQL/Phyton knowledge as well as experience in using visualization tools (PowerBI, Tableau or Holistic) will be advantageous.
