The School of Social Sciences (SOSS) at Singapore Management University invites applications for a tenure-track position in sociology at the Assistant Professor rank, to commence in July 2026 at the latest. We seek applications from candidates with strong skills in quantitative methods and an aptitude to teach classes on research methods. Candidates must demonstrate a strong record of (or high potential for) scholarly research in social stratification and inequality. There is also a preference for applicants whose work aligns with existing research strengths in SOSS, including aging, family, and health. SOSS welcomes applications from candidates working on Asia, with a special interest in Southeast Asia.
The position requires a doctorate in sociology or a related discipline by the date of appointment.
Singapore Management University is a research university committed to an interdisciplinary and integrated curriculum, providing opportunities to work with faculty across the social sciences. The research support is excellent. Salary and benefits are highly competitive. Assistant Professors in their first four years have a reduced teaching load of two courses per year. The normal teaching load is three courses per year. Undergraduate classes are capped at 48 students.
