Employment law services are delivered globally to the Enterprise by Dyson’s Centre of Excellence for Employment Law, which currently comprises a senior lawyer based in each of the US, Singapore and the Netherlands.
About the role
The Global Head of Employment Law is the functional leader of the CoE Employment Law, reporting to the Global Legal Director. The role will be based in Singapore and has management responsibility for the following activities:
Provision of strategic employment law advice to the Chief Legal Officer, the Chief People Officer, the Global Legal Director and other senior executives
Oversight of global standards, polices and processes for the delivery of employment law services globally to Dyson
Delivery of operational employment law advice globally across the Enterprise
Day to Day Responsibilities:
Strategic
Working with the Global legal Director to set the direction for managing strategic Employment law risks across the Enterprise
Developing and articulating a clear vision and development plan for the CoE Employment Law in order to meet its strategic goals.
Driving and evaluating progress against strategic goals
Operational
Working with the Global Legal Director to design and implement the operating model for delivery of Employment Law services to the Enterprise.
Managing and prioritising resources and services in accordance with their strategic value to Dyson.
Delivering services efficiently and at a competitive cost
Ensuring quality and consistency of service delivery, acting on stakeholder feedback where appropriate.
Developing KPIs and metrics which support effective decision-making.
Operational reporting to the Chief Legal Officer, Global Legal Director and key stakeholders within the Enterprise
Promoting collaboration across Dyson Legal teams, Dyson and with external stakeholders
Ensuring legal support is provided on key projects working with the wider business

Driving People Engagement within the team
Building a team culture of high performance, fairness, transparency and honesty.
Identify and champion top talent
Develop strategies for succession-planning
Ensuring effective performance management, learning and development within the team
Financial Performance
Effective budget-planning to ensure services are delivered efficiently and cost-effectively to maximise ROI.
Zero-based operational budgeting to deliver strategic value to Dyson
Effective management of spend against approved budget
About you
- The successful candidate will have a minimum of 12 years of employment law experience, prior in-house experience is strongly preferred.
- A sound understanding of all aspects of employment law and an ability to apply that knowledge pragmatically in a commercial environment;
- Substantial experience in working on multi-jurisdictional matters across Asia; Have experience in managing external legal counsel;
- An interest in designing and implementing new ways of delivering legal services (including the use, where appropriate, of legal tech);
- Good awareness of the role of the legal function in a global business; Be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment;
- The ability to deal with issues outside the candidate’s experience and to learn quickly;
- Project management experience;
- The confidence and gravitas to challenge decisions and actions when required; and Be a skilled communicator,
- A proven record of being able to quickly build effective and trusted relationships with stakeholders at all levels of an organisation up to and including C-suite.
