Job Description
As a GM Credit Risk & Finance Controller, you will play a dual role in safeguarding the financial health of the organisation. You will be responsible for assessing and managing credit risk associated with trading activities in the commodities market—particularly margin lending and trading—while also overseeing financial control functions. This includes evaluating the creditworthiness of counterparties, monitoring credit exposures, implementing risk mitigation strategies, and ensuring robust financial governance, reporting, and compliance. Your role is critical in maintaining financial discipline, supporting strategic decision-making, and ensuring adherence to internal policies and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
Credit Risk Management
- Assess credit risk for margin accounts and lending transactions.
- Analyse counterparty creditworthiness; set limits and monitor exposures.
- Develop and enforce margin policies; manage margin calls and violations.
- Use risk models to quantify exposure; report key metrics to senior management.
Finance Control
- Oversee financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
- Implement internal controls; manage audits and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Monitor cash flow and liquidity; provide financial insights to stakeholders.
Additional Responsibilities
- Support model development and portfolio risk analysis.
- Handle client interactions and credit negotiations.
- Collaborate across trading, operations, and risk teams.
- Update policies and stay current with regulatory changes.
Requirements
- Chartered accountant or Master's degree in finance, economics, risk management, or a related field
- Solid understanding of financial markets, trading products, and margin trading concepts.
- Experience in credit risk assessment, preferably in a margin trading environment.
- Familiarity with risk modeling, financial analysis, and statistical techniques.
- Knowledge of relevant financial regulations and compliance requirements.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with internal teams and external clients.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic trading environment.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., FRM, CFA) are advantageous but not mandat
