Internal Auditor – AVP
Role Overview:
Reporting to the Head of Asia Internal Audit the focus of this role is to support audit coverage across Asia (Hong Kong, Singapore, India, Japan, and Australia). Primary tasks will include performing Internal Audit reviews, testing controls, documenting control design assessments, agreeing findings and corrective actions, and performing continuous relationship monitoring. The audits will cover all aspects of Jefferies Asia, including Front Office trading businesses (Equity and Fixed Income), Investment Bank, and Corporate support areas (Risk, Compliance, Finance). Internal Audit reviews will also cover regulatory required audits, trading audits, and specific management and Board Audit Committee requests. The role will partner closely with consultants and members of the global Internal Audit team and will also involve keeping up to date with areas of regulatory change within the 1st and 2nd lines of defense.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain compliance with audit methodology, whilst operating within industry best practices, applicable regulations, and internal and external professional practice expectations.
- Participate in the walkthrough meetings and interviews with business stakeholders to develop understanding of business processes.
- Evaluate design and operating effectiveness of internal controls and identify control weaknesses.
- Document workpapers demonstrating the work was appropriately performed (e.g., detailed lead sheets describing the control attributes that were tested and the results that were documented to support the conclusions reached).
- Identify potential risks and controls and assist in developing work programs.
- Assist with drafting associated Asia legal entity Board Reporting.
- Work with stakeholders to agree findings, corrective actions, ownership, and due dates.
- Follow up on remediation of corrective actions.
Background & Skills:
- 5+ years of relevant Internal Audit experience preferably within an Investment Bank or Securities Firm.
- Demonstrable understanding of risks and controls.
- Demonstrable experience of effectively analyzing risk, proactively identifying issues and providing solutions to remediate such issues.
- Strong analytical skills, particularly regarding assessing the probability and impact of an internal control weakness.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to adapt to change and to be flexible and open minded.
- Understanding of the use of data analytics in audits preferrable.
- Bachelor’s degree, advanced degree, and/or certification (e.g., ACCA, ACA, CPA, CIA) preferred.
