Job Description:
We are seeking a committed and proactive Application Support Engineer with a background in Java/J2EE technologies. This role is ideal for individuals who have prior experience in application support or Java development and are eager to grow in a dynamic support environment. You will play a key role in supporting mission-critical applications, ensuring stability, and maintaining operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide level 1 and 2 application support for Java/J2EE-based applications in production and UAT environments.
- Investigate, analyze, and resolve application issues to ensure system stability.
- Monitor and maintain batch jobs, web applications, and middleware components such as JBOSS, MariaDB, and Shell scripts.
- Perform root cause analysis of recurring incidents and implement preventive measures.
- Execute Unix commands and SQL queries to support application data and log analysis.
- Coordinate with developers, QA, infrastructure, and business teams to ensure timely resolution of issues.
- Manage job scheduling and support system integrations involving MQ setup and Connect: Direct (C:D) where applicable.
- Maintain clear documentation of issues, resolutions, and support procedures.
- Ensure adherence to defined SLAs with a strong focus on quality and ownership.
Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in application support or Java development with willingness to learn and transition into support.
- Proficiency in Java / J2EE, SQL, and Unix/Linux environments.
- Good understanding of web applications, batch jobs, and middleware technologies like JBOSS, MariaDB, and Shell scripting.
- Exposure to tools and concepts like job scheduling, MQ, Connect: Direct (C:D) is a plus.
- Prior experience in the banking or financial services domain is an added advantage.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment with a strong sense of ownership.
- Must be willing to work in a shift-based environment (rotating shifts including nights/weekends as required).
