A Day in Your Life at MKS:
As a Laser Manufacturing Engineer at MKS | ESI, you will partner with the Manufacturing to establish and improve the efficiency of the Laser Production lines. In this role, you will report to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager.
You Will Make an Impact By:
- Assist in the development and implementation of manufacturing processes and procedures to improve efficiency and product quality
- Tasks include qualifying active and passive optical components, developing and benchmarking system performance models, developing and implementing test procedures, and evaluating and selecting appropriate test instrumentation
- Support production activities by troubleshooting issues and providing technical assistance to manufacturing technicians
- Maintain and update manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, process flows, and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, such as Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma, to enhance production processes
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies, promoting a safe and productive work environment
- Develop New Laser Product lines and improve production cycle time
- Design and/or modify production lines for new customization or configuration
- Maintain Manufacturing documentation and execute Engineering Changes for implementation.
- Perform Failure Analysis on RMAs and Production issues.
- Collaborate with other stakeholders to address technical issues and resolution
- Support qualification of Optical components or setup for LEAN initiatives.
Skills You Bring:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in laser processing, manufacturing engineering.
- Experience with laser systems (e.g., UV, CO₂, fiber lasers), optics, and motion control systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach.
- Familiarity with statistical process control (SPC), DOE, and Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Experience in a cleanroom or semiconductor manufacturing environment is a plus.
