At the Founders’ Memorial, we are creating a brand-new garden-museum experience for Singaporeans, by Singaporeans. A national landmark at the heart of our garden city, uncovering the story of how independent Singapore came to be, and bringing Singaporeans together to reflect and talk about the heritage of our founding leaders – what it means for us today and for the future. We are looking for a suitable candidate to join the Exhibitions team to develop and project manage the upcoming Founders’ Memorial galleries and exhibitions. Be part of the making of this "living" Memorial that will connect and inspire Singaporeans for generations to come.
[What you will be working on]
[Exhibitions Development and Management]
Interpret visual themes and visitor experience as well as manage project budgets and timelines for exhibitions.
Plan, organise, and oversee aspects of exhibition development, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
Analyse target audience demographics, interests, and preferences to tailor the exhibition experience and maximise engagement including accessibility design.
[Artefacts and Collection Management]
Handle and oversee the display and maintenance of artefacts in a manner that preserves their integrity and longevity, which includes working with conservators to assess the condition of artefacts.
[Art Commission Development]
Work collaboratively with curators and an art commissioning panel to commission local artists and manage the artwork development process, including fabrication and installation of artworks within the indoor or garden spaces of the Founders’ Memorial.
[Project Management & Administration]
Work collaboratively with curators, digital practitioners, and exhibition designers to manage the content development, exhibition design and fabrication of Founders’ Memorial Galleries and key work streams leading to launch of the Founders’ Memorial in 2028. This includes the upcoming Project Citizens SG60 showcase in 2025.
Undertake lead and support roles in budgetary, procurement and operational aspects of assigned projects, including scoping and drafting tenders, coordinating inputs from internal departments, identifying potential consultants and vendors, planning for tender-related briefings/meetings and preparing proposals and reports to update management and seek approvals.
[Documentation]
Put together post exhibition reports, with collated inputs from various departments.
[What we are looking for]
Preferably at least 5-7 years of working experience in exhibitions in a museum setting and experiential design with a proven track record in Exhibition Development and Management.
Experience with Artefact Handling (including lifting, moving and packing), Collections Management and Mixed-Media Installations, with an understanding of visitor interaction with digital tools in a museum setting
An interest in Singapore history, particularly that of post-independence decades and/or experience with culture/heritage/arts sector-related work is preferred
Project Management certification will be advantageous
Ability to think creatively to trouble-shoot and come up with solutions
Team player with excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills
Excellent command of the English language (written and verbal)
Some weekend and after-work hours engagements might be required – candidates should be prepared to exercise some flexibility in the work schedule
