The Mould Shop Supervisor will be responsible for the overall leadership and day-to-day operations of the mould (tooling) department. This includes overseeing the production, maintenance, and optimization of moulds used in manufacturing. The ideal candidate will manage a team of toolmakers, technicians, and support staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, operational efficiency, and uncompromising safety and quality standards across all mould shop activities.
Job responsibilities:
- Oversee daily operations within the mould shop, including the construction of new tools, ongoing repairs, and scheduled maintenance activities.
- Lead and support the mould shop team through supervision, training, and performance reviews to uphold quality and productivity benchmarks.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams—production, engineering, and design—to ensure moulds and tooling are delivered on schedule.
- Plan and manage timelines for tooling projects and maintenance to reduce operational delays.
- Track tooling performance and proactively resolve issues to extend tool life and enhance efficiency.
- Uphold compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Manage stock levels of mould-related components, tools, and consumables to ensure availability while controlling costs.
- Champion process improvements aimed at reducing cycle times, lowering costs, and minimizing material waste.
- Keep accurate records of mould specifications, design updates, maintenance logs, and technical documentation.
- Liaise with external vendors and subcontractors for specialized tooling requirements when in-house capabilities are limited.
