Job Responsibilities:
- Establish and implement robust operational risk management strategies, framework and policies to strengthen enterprise-wide operational resilience and enable sustainable growth of business.
- Play a pivotal role as subject matter expert on Operational Risk to review and provide specialist advice & objective assessment to business units in their management of operational risks. Work in collaboration with business units to identify thematic risk concerns that warrant deeper analysis with appropriate risk mitigation, controls and measures.
- Drive the continuous improvement initiatives to ensure the quality assurance and effectiveness of the operational risk practices and controls within business units to remain effective, adaptable and responsive to evolving business landscapes.
- Implement an effective and structured New Product Approval Process / Framework, and ensure effective assessment of potential operational risks associated with both new products and changes with the existing products, including:
- Work closely with business units to provide independent assessment of operational risks associated to new product propositions / variation to existing products as well as changes to processes relating to products to ensure adequacy and effectiveness of controls in mitigating risks, ensure Post Implementation Review (PIR) is performed by Product Owners for alignment with the new product framework.
- Provide strategic advisory and guidance to Product Owners on the risk assessment of the new product / material variation to an existing product
- Collaborate with Group COEs to communicate, advocate and influence the alignment of Group NFRM policies and framework with CIMB Singapore’s locally implemented changes.
- Provide independent assessment on the root cause analysis of the operational risk events with sound judgement, and advise business units with strategic and tactical plan to remediate the identified control weaknesses to prevent a recurrence.
- Report and escalate to Senior Management / risk committees on operational risk exposure and mitigation activities or any other high or critical issues requiring attention and remediation.
- Provide strategic advisory and insightful guidance to the risk committees / working groups / forums / steering committees related to change process management or projects specifically addressing matters related to non-financial risk (eg operational, fraud, reputational, conduct risk etc).
Job requirements:
- Graduate degree in Economics, Finance, Accounting or numerate studies
- Professional or post graduate qualifications e.g. chartered accountant, MBA would be advantageous
- At least 15 years of operational risk management, quality assurance or other risk control-related function experience and at least 5 years of managerial experience from the banking industry.
- Strong knowledge of operational risk frameworks and understanding of industry best practices including the specialized subject matter.
- Forward and strategic thinking with the ability to deliver pragmatic solutions to risk issues independently.
- Agile mindset with the ability to embrace change and drive innovation in risk management practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration across departments.
