Position Summary:
- Independently perform mechanical system designs (2D and 3D) and lead assigned sections throughout project phases.
- Support the Section Project Lead in day-to-day engineering operations and coordination tasks.
- Execute assigned design deliverables while ensuring compliance with quality standards and project schedules.
- Provide technical recommendations for design methodology, ensuring adherence to the latest industry standards and regulations.
- Monitor and report on project metrics such as man-hours, progress schedules, and output quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with project teams to ensure alignment with engineering schedules and deliverables.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of mechanical design standards and methodologies.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers, assistant engineers, and drafters in the execution of mechanical tasks.
- Identify and resolve mechanical design issues throughout the project lifecycle.
- Track and report key design data, such as equipment counts and object quantities.
- Participate in project and section meetings, providing updates on design progress and technical issues.
- Prepare and review mechanical machinery and piping calculations, technical specifications, and vendor submissions.
- Review and validate 2D arrangement drawings, schematics, and 3D models for marine systems.
- Provide production and site-related design support through detailed drawings and documentation.
- Coordinate with external stakeholders such as shipyards, consultants, and vendors to align on design requirements.
- Support the Section Lead on mechanical technical issues, ensuring smooth execution of newbuild, repair, upgrade, and conversion projects.
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical/piping design for marine or offshore newbuilds.
- At least 2 years in a senior engineering capacity.
- Proficient in AutoCAD, AVEVA, and MS Office tools.
- Knowledgeable in classification rules and statutory marine requirements.
- Strong foundation in mechanical, piping, and HVAC system design.
- Excellent communication and analytical skills.
