A) Job Description
(1) Manages the legal and compliance matters pertaining to local company and other group companies in the APAC region based on Japan HQ global legal and compliance policies and practices;
(2) Directly reports to and assists General Manager of local company in providing legal and compliance advice and services to local company and other group companies in the APAC region as part of the Regional Legal and Compliance Office;
(3) Coordinates with Japan HQ on the establishment, implementation, and maintenance of regional and group company policies and rules with respect to legal affairs and compliance in the APAC region;
(4) Develops and implements compliance/legal educational and training programs that focuses on the elements of the compliance program, Japan HQ’s global policies and practices, and regional and group company policies and rules, and seeks to ensure that local employees at Singapore and other group companies in the APAC region are knowledgeable of , and comply with, such policies and practices as well as pertinent laws and regulations in the APAC region;
(5) Advises Singapore local company and other group companies in the APAC region on legal and compliance issues involving commercial and compliance activities thereof; and
(6)Actively participates in ongoing liaison activities in relation to the legal and compliance matters among Japan HQ, Singapore local company and other group companies in the APAC region.
B) Skills Required
- Fluent Japanese speaking ability in order to coordinate with Japan HQ on the establishment, implementation, and maintenance of regional and group company policies and rules with respect to legal affairs and compliance in the APAC region.
- Good depth of knowledge in contract, commercial and corporate law and ability to manage, review, negotiate and well operationalise contracts. Will be required to draft, review and provide advice on sales, operational and IT contracts. Capability to manage the legal and contractual aspects of a variety of complex contracts ensuring compliance with the company’s policies and procedures, applicable laws and contractual obligations.
- Ability to render mature legal advice and support to external and internal business partners in the APAC region. Able to identify risks, issues and suggest alternatives that lead to the best solution.
- Effectively support the corporate legal function in carrying out, implementing, advising on, monitoring, analysing, assessing and executing.
- Good working knowledge of anti-bribery laws (including FCPA and UK Bribery Act) and Competition Law
- Experience in conducting due diligence work.
- Review internal policies and conduct trainings
- Understand and work according to the commercial pressures of the sales business in a fast-paced environment.
