[What the role is]We are looking for individuals to join the School of Health & Social Sciences as Short-Term Clinical Instructors. In this role, you will serve as a role model and mentor for our nursing students and is responsible for providing effective instruction, assessment and support to Nursing students during their clinical placement in hospital and community facilities. You should strive to stimulate the student's interest in all aspects of clinical practice and encourage innovative thinking and approaches to practice.
[What you will be working on]
- Orientate students to the clinical sites including working schedule, assessment methods, and overall responsibilities.
- Ensure that the clinical practicum facilitates the achievement of stipulated clinical learning outcomes and provide regular feedback to the Clinical Placement Provider to improve the quality of students’ clinical experiences.
- Support faculty with the development and achievement of the objectives and competencies for clinical skills logbook and assessments.
- Identify and assign appropriate activities align to the objectives and competencies for the clinical placement to enhance student learning.
- Impart and enhance students’ understanding of clinical related issues.
- Assess student’s competency to identify strengths and address weaknesses and monitor their progress to ensure stated objectives are met.
- Facilitate and seek interactions with the management and other health care professionals of clinical practice sites and act as point of contact for the respective hospitals.
- Communicate with the clinical manager with any concerns or questions regarding student progress as soon as issues arise.
- Prepares the staff weekly roster and submit weekly reports to the clinical manager.
- Maintain student confidentiality and any other duties as assigned
[What we are looking for]
- Relevant qualifications in nursing
- At least 3 years clinical experience in acute health care settings
- Current knowledge of Nursing skills, trends and issues
- Holds a valid RN license with Singapore Nursing Board
- Good grasp of computer literacy and demonstrated ability to integrate technology into the learning environment and teaching methodology
- Good verbal and written communication skills and a demonstrated competency to interact with people at all levels of the organization
- Effective presentation and demonstration skills, both theoretical and practical
- Strong interpersonal skills, innovative, team player
- Able to multi-task
- Evidence of a personal & professional development plan
- Teaching experience or qualification will be an advantage
