The Site Manager is responsible for the coordination and completion of the Site Works in accordance with the overall targets (Safety, Quality, Schedule, Cost and Delivery) defined for the HVDC Project and in line with the technical specification of the Contract. The incumbent is also the local point of Contact on site with the Customer Site Manager Counterpart.
Main tasks are the following:
- Works with the Construction Manager to prepare Construction Execution Plan for HVDC projects and ensure all site personnel are trained in accordance with the execution plan.
- Works with the Construction Manager to plan the site staffing and organization for implementation of contract scopes of work.
- Sets site expectations and site goals for all personnel.
- Responsible for all site budgets, cost, and schedule.
- Assures site Quality Control Program is developed and implemented.
- Responsible for site material purchase final approvals.
- Assures the preparation of project re-forecasts are coordinated and agreed to between engineering and all site departments.
- Accountable for the functional direction, coordination, and performance of all on-site construction operations and support departments.
- Implements daily Plan of the Day with site team and contractors.
- Assures implementation of the site erection plan meets the method and approach of the Project Execution Plan.
- Works with the home office design and contract team to plan and sequence the construction site activities from layout of construction facilities to mobilization, erection/installation of scope, turnover of systems to commissioning and demobilizing from site.
- Assures the development and implementation of the Site Safety Program and builds a culture that makes safety and environmental awareness a natural part of the job.
- Responsible for all site budgets, cost, and schedule.
- Responsible for assuring implementation of project and functional procedures for all site construction departments.
- Responsible for site management of site functional departments i.e. Cost/Schedule/planning, Procurement, Safety, Field Engineering/Supervision, Quality and Subcontracts.
- Approves final subcontract documents and contracts to grant schedule compliance.
- Assures site Quality Control Program is developed and implemented.
- Assures and approves implementation of the construction erection plan by site supervision and subcontractors.
- Responsible for site material purchase final approvals.
- Assures the preparation of project re-forecasts are coordinated and agreed to between engineering and all site departments.
- Assures the actual construction schedule is performed as planned, achievable and works with project controls to update.
- Responsible for initiating site project team building.
- Responsible for day-to-day coordination with client counterpart on site.
- Assures the proper implementation of the project Environment Control Plan.
- Conducts site walks for Safety with team members and client.
- Coordinates day to day with home office Project Management/Director for ongoing site activities and issues.
- Coordinates with regional construction functional management to inform site status and issues.
- Assures coordination between supervision and subcontractor labour.
- Assures/leads implementation of weekly site 1 week look ahead schedule meetings and 04 weeks look ahead meetings.
- Assist site subcontract administrator or leads the weekly meetings with subcontractors and client.
- Assures lessons learned are captured and documented to home office project management
Qualifications & Requirements
- Engineering Diploma from a recognized academic institution or college with minimum 10 years of relevant experience in managing site for HVDC project
- Proven track record with extensive and demonstrated experience (minimum 10 yrs) managing HVDC project site.
- Background in HVDC electrical works and commissioning.
- HVDC equipment, as Converter valves and transformers and GIS.
- Appropriate health and safety experience
- Great interpersonal skills & ability to lead working teams in difficult situation.
- Building services & auxiliaries.
- Control & Protection system.
- Ability to communicate effectively, and to accurately and concisely report both verbally and in writing.
