Key Responsibilities
Local Trading & Purchases (Singapore)
- Source and coordinate with local scrap metal suppliers
- Verify purchase invoices, weighbridge tickets, and ensure proper GST-compliant documentation
- Schedule collection/delivery with transport and yard teams
- Maintain accurate purchase records and update internal stock trackers
Export Operations (Primarily to India)
- Manage export shipments of copper, brass, aluminium, and demolition scrap
- Prepare shipping documentation: invoice, packing list, bill of lading, certificate of origin
- Coordinate with Indian buyers and freight forwarders for vessel schedules and port clearance
- Handle LC application, verification, and negotiation with banks
- Resolve discrepancies in trade or documentation with overseas buyers
Import Operations (General)
- Liaise with overseas suppliers (e.g. for scrap, equipment, or spare parts) to plan inbound shipments
- Handle freight booking, insurance, and customs clearance in Singapore
- Prepare import documents: commercial invoice, packing list, BL, CO, etc.
- Track container status, verify landed cost, and ensure timely clearance with Singapore Customs
- Work with local forwarders and licensed agents to avoid port delays or demurrage
General Trade Support
- Monitor receivables/payables and ensure smooth cash flow for trade transactions
- Update Excel trackers for purchase/export/import operations
- Calculate laytime, demurrage, or dispatch fees where applicable
- Work with internal finance, warehouse, and admin teams to ensure end-to-end trade support
Requirements
- Diploma/Degree in Business, Maritime, Supply Chain, or related fields
- 4 to 7 years of relevant experience in trading operations , ideally in metal recycling and commodity logistics
- Knowledge of export to India
- Comfortable working with freight forwarders, banks, and customs agents
- Strong Excel skills and document accuracy
- Team player with attention to detail and proactive follow-up
