Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain VMware vSphere environments including vCenter, ESXi hosts, DRS, and HA configurations.
- Lead capacity planning initiatives to ensure optimal allocation of compute, storage, and memory resources across clusters.
- Monitor environment performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement proactive measures for optimization.
- Forecast infrastructure needs and design scaling strategies to meet business and workload demands.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (network, storage, application, and security teams) to support workload planning and infrastructure design.
- Maintain accurate infrastructure documentation, policies, and standard operating procedures.
- Support and enhance disaster recovery readiness through testing, validation, and failover planning.
- Automate virtual machine provisioning, monitoring, and lifecycle management.
- Perform patching, upgrades, and system maintenance with minimal downtime.
- Drive improvements in performance tuning, resource utilization, and infrastructure resilience.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- 5+ years of hands-on experience as a VMware Administrator/Engineer.
- Strong expertise in VMware vSphere suite (vCenter, ESXi, DRS, HA).
- Proven experience in capacity planning, performance tuning, and resource optimization.
- Hands-on with monitoring tools such as vRealize Operations Manager (vROps), RVTools, or equivalent.
- Familiarity with vSAN, VMware NSX, and PowerCLI scripting for automation.
- Solid understanding of infrastructure design, virtualization best practices, and workload management.
- Experience in disaster recovery, business continuity planning, and high availability architectures.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with ability to resolve performance, connectivity, and configuration issues.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Have):
- VMware certifications (e.g., VCP-DCV, VCAP, VCDX) are highly desirable.
- Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) integrated with VMware solutions.
- Knowledge of storage technologies (SAN, NAS) and backup solutions (Veeam, Commvault, etc.).
- Familiarity with DevOps, Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), and automation frameworks. Experience working in large-scale, enterprise IT environments.
