Summary:
The Infrastructure and Tools Implementation Engineer specializes in implementing and managing Cisco Application Performance Monitoring (APM) solutions. This role demands a strong understanding of network infrastructure, application architectures, and Cisco technologies, particularly those related to application performance management and network visibility. The engineer will ensure optimal performance and availability of critical applications by leveraging Cisco APM tools to monitor, analyze, and troubleshoot application behavior.
Job Scope:
- Implementation and Configuration:
o Lead the implementation of Cisco APM solutions (AppDynamics) for customers
o Collaborate with clients to understand their application environments, business goals, and performance monitoring needs.
o Install, configure, and fine-tune Cisco APM agents and collectors to monitor applications and infrastructure components.
o Integrate Cisco APM with existing monitoring and management tools.
o Define and configure application performance baselines and thresholds.
o Develop custom dashboards and reports to visualize application performance data.
- Performance Monitoring and Analysis:
o Proactively monitor application performance metrics (response times, transaction volumes, error rates, resource consumption).
o Analyze performance data collected by AppDynamics to identify bottlenecks, perform root cause analysis on outages, and preemptively alert for potential problems.
o Utilize Cisco APM tools to trace transactions, diagnose performance problems, and identify root causes.
o Collaborate with application development teams to optimize application code and infrastructure configurations.
- Troubleshooting and Optimization:
o Troubleshoot application performance issues using Cisco APM tools and diagnostic techniques.
o Work with network, infrastructure, and application teams to resolve performance bottlenecks.
o Optimize application performance by tuning application parameters, infrastructure configurations, and network settings.
o Implement performance improvements and validate their effectiveness.
- Maintenance and Support:
o Develop custom queries and metrics to enhance visibility into key problem areas in customer environments.
o Perform regular maintenance and upgrades of Cisco APM solutions.
o Ensure the availability and reliability of the APM infrastructure.
o Provide technical support to users of the APM tools.
o Stay up-to-date on the latest Cisco APM features, best practices, and releases.
- Documentation and Knowledge Sharing:
o Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for the APM environment.
o Create knowledge base articles and training materials for users.
o Share knowledge and expertise with other team members.
