[What the role is]
Hawker centres are our “community dining rooms”, where hawker-entrepreneurs serve affordable good food, bringing people together in our everyday neighbourhoods. By joining the Hawkers’ Policy team, you will have the opportunity to contribute ideas, policies and plans to ensure that our hawker centres remain relevant and sustainable, to meet the needs of Singaporeans, today and tomorrow.[What you will be working on]
You will be part of the team that is collectively responsible for the following:
Formulate and review hawker policies to (i) ensure provision of affordable food at hawker centres, (ii) sustain hawker trade and (iii) safeguard hawker culture.
Drive the development and review of long-term hawker centre and hawker trade strategies towards achieving NEA’s goals of safeguarding hawker culture and ensuring hawker centres remain relevant and sustainable to the changing needs of the population.
Analyse hawker centres’ key performance indicators, rentals, tender bids, and tenancy-related data to assess effectiveness of hawker policies.
Coordinate with relevant operational departments and Ministry policy divisions to address gaps in the current policies and operations and on government communications related to hawker centres and markets management.
Collaborate with other agencies to support the delivery of WOG policies and programmes through hawker centres.
Prepare and coordinate NEA’s response on policy issues pertaining to hawker centres and hawker-related issues, including replies to Parliamentary Questions and Committee of Supply debates.

Strong analytical, writing and communication skills to (i) formulate policy in an environment of competing priorities, and (ii) communicate complex policies effectively to stakeholders both in writing and through presentations
Meticulous and proficient in handling data for analysis and presentation purpose
Strong interpersonal skills to engage and build partnerships with stakeholders
Demonstrate initiative, a passion to learn, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Be prepared to work on occasional weekends or after office hours in event of work contingencies
