JOB DESCRIPTION AND REQUIREMENTS:
Job Overview:
The Canteen Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the canteen, ensuring a high standard of food service, maintaining cleanliness and hygiene, managing staff, and haandling inventory.
Key Responsibilities:
Staff Management:
Supervise and schedule canteen staff, ensuring that the team is well-trained and motivated.
Conduct regular staff performance reviews and provide feedback.
Ensure all canteen staff adhere to health and safety regulations and hygiene standards.
Food Service Operations:
Oversee the preparation and serving of food, ensuring timely delivery and quality service.
Ensure that food is stored, prepared, and served in compliance with food safety regulations.
Handle customer inquiries and complaints in a professional manner.
Inventory Management:
Order and manage food and beverage supplies, maintaining optimal stock levels.
Perform regular stock checks to ensure sufficient inventory and minimize waste.
Ensure the proper storage and rotation of food items according to established standards.
Customer Service:
Ensure a high standard of customer service at all times, responding to customer feedback and resolving issues promptly.
Promote a welcoming and positive atmosphere for customers.
Menu Planning:
Work with management or relevant teams to plan daily menus.
Ensure that the menu offers variety and meets the dietary requirements of all customers .
Job Requirements:
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications in hospitality, food safety, or management preferred.
- Previous experience working in food service or hospitality, ideally with supervisory responsibilities.
- Knowledge of food preparation, health and safety standards, and customer service.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong leadership and organizational skills to manage staff and operations effectively.
- Excellent communication skills to interact with customers, staff, and management.
- Ability to manage time efficiently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Basic knowledge of financial management, including budgeting and inventory control.
- Ability to handle stress and resolve conflicts in a calm and professional manner.
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy items (up to 30 pounds).
- Comfort working in a fast-paced kitchen and canteen environment.
