Job Description
Project & Technical Leadership
- Manage E&I engineering deliverables, ensuring alignment with project specifications, class rules, and international standards (IEC, IEEE, API, DNV, ABS, etc.).
- Define scopes of work for engineering subcontractors and monitor deliverable schedules to meet overall project timelines.
- Review and approve engineering documents including design philosophies, load lists, single-line diagrams, cable schedules, instrument indexes, control system architecture, and room/deck layouts.
- Oversee development of instrumentation deliverables such as loop diagrams, data sheets, wiring schematics, and hazardous area layouts.
Design & Integration
- Ensure optimal equipment layout and integration with consideration for constructability, operations, maintenance, safety, and material handling.
- Review and validate technical specifications, material requisitions, bid evaluations, and vendor documentation for major E&I equipment and bulk materials.
- Coordinate with process, mechanical, structural, piping, telecom, automation, and safety teams to resolve interface issues.
- Lead and participate in 3D model reviews to address cable routing, equipment clearances, hazardous zoning, and clash resolution.
Procurement & Vendor Coordination
- Engage with vendors to resolve technical queries, manage design changes, and ensure timely incorporation into engineering and 3D models.
- Review vendor drawings, FAT procedures, and test results to ensure compliance with project requirements.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Participate in HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, and other safety reviews to ensure functional safety and risk mitigation in E&I designs.
- Address comments from clients, classification societies, and third parties in a timely manner.
Construction & Commissioning Support
- Provide technical support during fabrication, installation, and commissioning phases, including site visits and inspections.
- Review and update as-built documentation, ensuring accurate record-keeping of final installed systems.
Mentorship & Team Development
- Guide junior engineers and designers in preparing detailed drawings, specifications, and calculations. Promote best practices in E&I design, documentation, and quality control.
Job Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience in E&I engineering, with at least 3 years in offshore oil & gas, FPU/FPSO, or substation projects.
- Strong knowledge of offshore electrical systems, field instrumentation, telecom & navigation systems, and control system integration.
- Proficiency in design tools such as AutoCAD, SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI), SP3D, AVEVA Diagrams, and Navisworks.
- In-depth understanding of relevant international codes and standards (IEC, IEEE, ISA, API, DNV, ABS, etc.).
- Proven ability to manage subcontractors, vendors, and multidisciplinary engineering interfaces.
- Experience in offshore renewable energy or high-voltage substation projects.
- Knowledge of EX-rated equipment, hazardous area classification, and corrosion protection.
- Professional Engineer (PE) status, Chartered Engineer, or equivalent certification.
- Familiarity with digital engineering tools, condition monitoring, and smart instrumentation systems.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
