Job Summary
Are you passionate about creativity, hands-on building, and inspiring young minds? We are looking for enthusiastic and committed Freelance Young Builders Instructors to lead classes using Makedo – a safe, sustainable building system that uses cardboard and reusable tools to empower children to imagine and construct their own creations.
This role is ideal for students, graduates, educators, or makers looking to earn extra income while working with children aged 4–12 in fun, project-based sessions. Prior experience with Makedo or teaching is a plus, but not required – full training will be provided!
Key Responsibilities
- Lead engaging building sessions : Guide children through themed projects like forts, robots, cities, vehicles, and more using Makedo tools and kits.
- Create a positive hands-on environment : Foster imagination, teamwork, and confidence in children through open-ended play and guided challenges.
- Manage materials & tools : Ensure safe and proper use of Makedo tools (safe saws, screws, connectors, etc.) and help students build responsibly.
- Support student learning : Offer encouragement, feedback, and assistance as children design, problem-solve, and construct.
- Communicate with parents & team : Respond to parent questions and collaborate with the program team for smooth delivery of sessions.
- Promote the mission : Represent our organization and champion creative, sustainable building activities in line with our values.
Key Requirements
- Passion for hands-on learning : Excitement about building, design, or tinkering, and sharing that enthusiasm with children.
- Love for working with kids : Enjoyment in engaging, guiding, and supporting children aged 4–12 in group settings.
- Strong communication skills : Clear, encouraging, and professional interaction with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Responsibility and preparation : Punctuality, professionalism, and readiness for each session.
- Commitment : Minimum 6-month term (school term only; no holiday or weekend classes required).
Additional Skills & Experience (Preferred but not required)
- Prior experience teaching or leading activities for children
- Experience with cardboard construction, DIY, tinkering, or maker activities
- Familiarity with Makedo or other STEAM tools and kits
- Interest in sustainability, design thinking, or STEM education
Training Provided
No prior experience with Makedo? No problem. We provide comprehensive training to prepare you to confidently lead classes and support creative construction using our tools and curriculum.
