About the Department
Group Technology and Operations (GTO) provides software and system development, information technology support services and banking operations.
We have centralized and standardized the technology components into Singapore, creating a global footprint which can be utilized for supporting our regional subsidiaries and the branches around the world. We operate and support 19 countries with this architecture to provide a secure and flexible banking infrastructure.
Our Operations divisions provide transactional customer services for our businesses while also focusing on cost efficiency through process improvements, automation and straight through processing.
Job Responsibilities
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Derivatives, Structured Products & Commodities Operations to lead the global operations function supporting a broad range of financial instruments. Based in Singapore, the Head Office, this role is responsible for overseeing trade lifecycle management, operational risk, regulatory compliance, and process optimization across all regions. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in derivatives, structured products, and commodities operations, strong leadership skills, and a passion for driving innovation through technology, data, and automation.
- Lead and manage the operations team across Singapore and regional offices, including overseas branches and subsidiaries.
- Provide strategic and operational oversight of regional operations to ensure consistency, compliance, and efficiency across all locations.
- Oversee the full trade lifecycle for derivatives, structured products, and commodities, including trade capture, confirmation, settlement, reconciliation, and collateral management.
- Ensure compliance with global and local regulatory requirements (e.g., EMIR, Dodd-Frank, MiFID II) and internal control standards.
- Collaborate with front office, risk, compliance, and technology teams to resolve operational issues and support new initiatives.
- Drive operational excellence through process reengineering, automation, and adoption of digital tools.
- Monitor and report on key operational metrics, risks, and service levels across all regions.
- Lead strategic projects, including system upgrades, regulatory change implementations, and new product onboarding.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and innovation within the global team.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor Degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field; advanced certifications (e.g., CFA, FRM) preferred.
- At least 12 years of experience in derivatives, structured products, or commodities operations, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership capacity.
- Strong understanding of financial instruments, trade lifecycle, and market infrastructure.
- Proven ability to lead global teams and manage complex cross-functional initiatives.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with regulatory reporting and operational risk frameworks.
- Familiarity with industry platforms (e.g., MarkitWire, DTCC, TriOptima, Calypso, Murex).
- Proficiency in digital low-code/no-code platforms (e.g., Power Automate, Appian) for workflow automation.
- Strong background in data analytics and visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Python).
- Exposure to generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Copilot) for enhancing operational efficiency, reporting, and knowledge management.
- Experience leading digital transformation or innovation initiatives in financial operations.
- Experience with gold physical delivery and settlement processes.
