Join us as a Housekeeping Manager in Holiday Inn Express Katong! You’ll have ambition, talent and obviously, some key skills. Because, for this vital role, we’re looking for someone who can:

Assist the Rooms Division Manager or as designate in the supervision of the housekeeping operations to ensure brand standards of both Hotel Indigo and Holiday Inn Express are met respectively and that optimum service is provided to hotel guests according to hotel or company business objectives. Direct day-to-day activities and work closely with Front Office and Engineering department to ensure the achievement of established quality and guest service standards and departmental revenue and profit goals. Deliver a guest experience that is unique and brings the brand to life.

  • Participate in the preparation of the annual departmental operating budget and financial plans.
  • Monitor budget, control labour costs and expenses with a focus on increasing productivity, and work efficiency.
  • Make recommendations and participate in CAPEX planning to ensure the high quality product of the Hotels long term.
  • Maintain proper inventory levels, managing cost per room for supplies and labour (e.g. linen and laundry operations).
  • Manage day-to-day manning requirements of both hotels, plan and assign work, and establish performance and development goals for your direct reports.
  • Provide mentoring, coaching and regular feedback to improve team’s performance.
  • Educate and train all employees in compliance with governmental and safety regulations.
  • Ensure staff is train and has the tools and equipment to carry out job duties in accordance to the IHG brand standards and policies.
  • Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other department heads.
  • Spearhead deep cleaning projects and/or assist housekeeping colleagues during high volume periods to maintain high quality of cleanliness at all times throughout the year.
  • Inspect all assigned guest rooms, VIP rooms and public areas to ensure furnishings, guest rooms, equipment, linens, and public areas are clean and in good repair to meet guest satisfaction.
  • Advise employees of deficiencies and instruct on corrective action.
  • Routinely perform all housekeeping duties necessary including making beds, and vacuuming and cleaning guest rooms to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Respond to guest complaints, special requests and ensure corrective action is taken to achieve complete guest satisfaction reflected on Guest Heartbeat, 3rd party review sites (GSI), Loyalty Recognition and Quality of the winning matrix.
  • Plan and complete 25% room inspection per month and 2 deep clean cycle per room.
  • Lead and drive the Quality Audit to maintain pass in Cleanliness and Condition Scores for both Hotels.
  • Carry out special needs and requests of the guests, VIP’s and repeat visitors.
  • Maintain and order supplies and equipment in a timely and efficient manner while minimising waste and maintaining “green” initiatives (example: container recycling and cleaning agents).
  • Work together with other departments to drive carbon reduction and other related IHG initiatives.
  • May maintain procedures for security of lost and found items.
  • Demonstrate Awareness of OH&S policies and procedures and ensure all procedures are conducted safely and within OH&S guidelines.
  • Be aware of duty of care and adhere to occupational, health and safety legislation, policies and procedures.
  • Be familiar with property safety, first aid and fire and emergency procedures and operate equipment safely and sensibly.
  • Initiate action to correct a hazardous situation and notify supervisors of potential dangers.
  • Log security incidents and accidents in accordance with hotel requirements.

Qualifications and requirements

High School Diploma / secondary education / equivalent plus one year of housekeeping experience in similar capacity in the hospitality industry. Must be able to speak local language(s).
