Position: HSEQ & Crewing General Manager (Ship Management)
The role requires a seasoned maritime professional with extensive experience in leadership, compliance, and marine within the global shipping industry.
The position reports to the Asset Management Marine, HQSE & CREWING SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT, based in Dubai Asset Management Business Unit HQ.
Roles and Responsibilities :
1. Operational Excellence and Compliance
- Oversee Fleet Operations: Supervise the daily marine, crewing operations for the Asian managed fleet to ensure safety, reliability, and cost- effectiveness.
- Ensure Regulatory Compliance: Must ensure all vessels and company activities adhere to international maritime regulations (IMO, SOLAS, MARPOL), local laws, and client-specific quality standards (ISO, ISM, OCIMF).
- Manage Risk: Develop and implement risk management frameworks, oversee incident response, and conduct investigations to mitigate operational risks.
- Drive Continuous Improvement: Benchmark operational practices against global standards and drive initiatives to enhance efficiency and performance across all departments.
2. Stakeholder Management and Communication
- Cultivate Client Relationships: Serve as a point of contact for key clients, building long-term relationships
- Engage with External Partners: Build and maintain strong relationships with government bodies (MPA), port authorities, classification societies, insurers, and other industry stakeholders.
3. Team Leadership and Development
- Lead a Multidisciplinary Team: Guide and mentor department managers (marine, operations, crewing) to foster a high-performance culture based on safety and accountability.
- Empower Employees: Delegate responsibilities effectively and provide training and mentoring to support the professional growth of subordinates.
- Foster a Strong Company Culture: Champion the company's values, safety culture, and commitment to deliver quality service to clients.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Experience: A minimum of 10–15 years of progressive experience in the maritime industry, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role within a ship management company.
- Education: A bachelor’s degree in Maritime Studies, Nautical Science, or a related field is typically required
- Certification: A Master Mariner Certificate of Competency (COC) is preferred.
- Technical Knowledge: A deep understanding of Marine operations, SIRE requirements and international maritime regulations is essential.
- Soft Skills: Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and analytical skills are crucial for managing diverse teams and complex stakeholder relationships.
