IBWS Senior Manager (South Korea)

The Senior IBWS Manager develops their own goals and targets (with sign off by the Head) and is responsible for leading cross-team and cross-department work. The role deputises for the Head when necessary and has full responsibility for developing and managing own projects and workflow.

The Senior IBWS Manager documents learnings from school support initiatives and acts as an advocate for internal changes needed to better serve schools. The role focuses on promoting the increased depth and breadth of programme development, supporting school change management and improving customer loyalty.

Evaluation of Schools

• Ensure efficient management of evaluation of allocated portfolio of schools to ensure consistency and efficiency among schools, reduce risk, provide excellent customer service and inform IBWS strategy.
• Guide and support schools in the process of programme evaluation and the self-study process.
• Guide and support schools in the process of programme development planning.
• Ensure that schools can derive maximum benefits from evaluation. Connecting schools with ecosystems and supporting schools in sharing best effective practices within the portfolio/strand.
• Monitor schools queries, development plans and implementation difficulties which relate to programme implementation and provide feedback reports to IBWS leadership and Schools Office.
• Identify programme implementation strengths and weaknesses of schools at different maturity stages and continuously contribute with programme expertise.
• Liaise and continuously support/coach and communicate with school leaders or groups/associations of programmes coordinators/educational leaders within a given portfolio.

Customer Support

• Work with IB Answers to collect information from schools, organize such information and support IB Answers to handle tier two queries and requests efficiently and effectively.

Relationship Management

• Develop an informed understanding of the profile of the assigned school portfolio
• Ensure that data relevant to each school in the portfolio is captured in the data repository and that the trends are analysed to inform yearly plans
• Act as the central point of contact for schools, maintain relations with schools and monitor their development and performance.
• Collaborate with schools to continuously support them in seeking to improve programme implementation.
• Accountable for cultivating relationship with most senior 3rd party representatives, e.g. president of board of education, superintendents of schools or education ministers.
• Accountable for relationships at a sub-regional or state/provincial/large district level e.g. UAE, China, Korea etc.

Programme Implementation & Sustainability – across all stages of programme implementation

• Provide on the ground insights and feedback from schools engaging in the authorization process and work across School’s Office teams as a support resource for programme implementation.
• Build professional learning networks that empower candidate and authorized IB schools to create sustainable programme implementation.
• Build the capacity of new and experienced school-based leaders in understanding and implementing an IB Education
• Guide and support schools in the process of programme evaluation and the self-study process.
• Contribute to the further development of evaluation so that the IB has regular touch points with schools and clarity on their school improvement plans.
• Make decisions based on evaluation reports and other data points and conduct service gap analyses.

Coordination and Communications

• Align and coordinate IB services for the assigned portfolio with internal stakeholders.
• Develop and implement a departmental and portfolio specific communications plan for the assigned school portfolio and communicate regularly with internal and external stakeholders (online communities, school relations etc.) based on identified school needs and new IB developments and offerings.

Network & Innovations

• Build, maintain and expand a network of (new) external relations (educational, governmental, etc.); detect and realize new business opportunities in close cooperation with other IB departments
• Participate and lead IBWS initiatives and projects as needed

Market Analysis

• Monitor and analyse developments and trends in the education field and translate this to new propositions for products and services for the assigned school portfolio.

Projects in South Korea

• Initiate, manage and/or contribute to IB projects to represent the interest of schools, at all stages of implementation , and ensure an execution and delivery, within project objectives and specifications.
• Successful implementation of strategic projects
• Accountable across multiple projects, strategic initiatives, assigned workflow management

About you

• Have the right to work in Korea (citizen or PR)
• Excellent English oral and written skills
• Fluency in Korean required
• Master’s degree, preferably in Education related discipline.
• Proven experience in School Leadership roles.
• Previous IB programme experience as educator, coordinator, administrator preferred
• Familiarity with education systems and practices in public, private and international school systems.
• Experience in education management, school improvement and educational change.
• Understanding of the Korean education sector or IB is an asset
• Excellent presentation and communication skills to engage with senior external stakeholders
• Commitment to international-mindedness and significant experience working with diverse cultures to achieve successful outcomes.
• Understands financial, marketing and communication implementations beyond the core duties of their role (i.e. cross-departmental awareness)
• Knowledge and experience with programme implementation and continuous school improvement
• Seeks out relevant information and uses it to solve problems in new and creative ways. Makes prompt, clear judgements, accepts accountability for own actions and takes initiative to accomplish goals.
