What You’ll Do

The role of an Infrastructure Engineering and Operations -Lead at Telstra is one of multifaceted responsibility, demanding a unique blend of technical mastery, strategic business acumen, and empathetic leadership. In today’s rapidly evolving technology landscape, the ability to combine these competencies is crucial to ensuring not only the seamless delivery of services but also the sustained competitive advantage of an organization like Telstra. This document explores the various dimensions of the Senior Lead’s role, delving into leadership, team management, technical prowess, customer focus, and the broader impact on Telstra’s mission and values.
Responsible to oversee the critical facilities operations Globally and contribute to the organization’s growth by executing projects and deploying technical, operational, and organizational strategies. Manage operations and expansion projects to achieve profitability goals with a leadership attitude.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Oversee Facility Operations: Ensure the smooth functioning of all facility-related activities, including maintenance, security, and cleanliness.
- Manage Staff: Supervise and coordinate the work of facility staff, including 3rd Party maintenance workers, and security personnel. A Driver within Telstra for continuous Improvement of processes and facilities.
- Budget Management: Develop and manage the facility budget, ensuring cost-effective operations and maintenance.
- Vendor Coordination: Liaise with external vendors and contractors for facility services and supplies.
- Compliance: Ensure all facilities comply with Telstra’s M&E standards for operations as well as health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Energy Efficiency: Responsible to drive the energy efficiencies programs of the Facilites operations which includes energy reduction and carbon footprint reduction to help meet Telstra’s Sustainability ambitions.
- Project Management: Lead facility improvement projects, including renovations, EOL replacements, upgrades to Cable stations and other facilities to ensure we have facilities running to standard.
- Emergency Response: Develop and implement emergency response plans for facility-related incidents.
About You
Qualifications:
- Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in facilities management, engineering, or a related field. Electrical License with extensive knowledge in facilities electrical Systems (UPS, Generators system operations) and / or HVAC system knowledge with Chiller plant operations.
- Experience: At least 10 years of proven experience in facilities management or a similar role. Experience in Data Center or cable landing station facilities & operations management.
- Technical Skills: Knowledge of building systems, maintenance procedures, and safety regulations.
- Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to handle complex issues and make effective decisions.
- Project Management: Experience in managing projects, including renovations and upgrades.
