Corporate Secretariat
Brief Overview:
The Corporate Secretariat team at SGX operates as part of the broader Legal, Compliance & Corporate Secretariat (LCC) unit, which oversees amongst others, the governance of SGX Group’s global operations. This team plays a pivotal role in ensuring that SGX, as a listed entity and market operator, adheres to the highest standards of corporate governance and regulatory compliance.
The LCC unit is instrumental in upholding SGX’s reputation as a trusted and transparent market infrastructure provider, while also adapting to evolving trends in ESG reporting, digital governance, and regulatory reform
Learning Objectives:
This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain firsthand exposure to the day-to-day operations of the Corporate Secretariat of SGX Group - a critical function within corporate governance that is rarely visible to the public. Interns will develop a deeper understanding of the regulatory and compliance landscape in Singapore, including how governance frameworks are applied in practice.
Some of the projects will include being actively involved in the preparation of the Company’s Annual Report, supporting the planning and execution of the Annual General Meeting, as well as developing and maintaining documentation and tracking systems for operational processes. The candidate will through these projects and the day-to-day operations, gain an understanding of regulatory and governance requirements and insights into strategic coordination of corporate events, and stakeholder engagement.
Job Description:
Corporate Governance Research & Liaison
The intern will support the development of the Corporate Governance section of the Annual Report by contributing to research and content development, stakeholder engagement, and content coordination, data validation and compliance support, and trend monitoring and insight gathering.
Meeting & Event Coordination
The intern will support the planning and execution of key corporate events such as Annual General Meetings (AGMs) and Extraordinary General Meetings (EGMs), gaining exposure to high-level corporate governance processes and stakeholder engagement.
Digitization of Document Management & Filing
The intern will support the accurate and secure handling of corporate documents, and the development and maintenance of documentation and tracking systems for operational processes. This role emphasizes precision, confidentiality, and digital fluency in managing and handling sensitive information.
