JOB DESCRIPTION
The Assistant Laboratory Technologist (Core Laboratory) assists the Senior Medical Technologists and Medical Technologists in receiving specimens in the laboratory and in performing patient testing, quality control and instrument maintenance.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(A) SPECIFIC (85%)
- Perform specimen reception and order entry.
- Perform Quality Control on laboratory analysers under the supervision of a Medical Technologist.
- Perform routine patient testing under the supervision of a Medical Technologist.
- Ensure the laboratory meets the expected turn-around-time.
- Perform rotating shift and night duties.
- Perform maintenance on laboratory analysers
- Ensure the work area remains clean and tidy after use.
- Strictly adhere to all laboratory safety policies.
- Assist Medical Technologist/Senior Medical Technologist/Principal Medical Technologist in maintaining the inventory according to lean practices.
- Assist Medical Technologist/Senior Medical Technologist/Principal Medical Technologist in preparing the laboratory for audits.
- Be involved in the Laboratory Quality Management Program and Quality Improvement initiatives.
(B) GENERAL (15%)
- Any other duties as directed by the Laboratory Manager.
- Be involved in hospital activities including participation in the Continuous Improvement Programme.
- Participate in community outreach programmes.
- Uphold the ideals and practices of Alexandra Health Pte Ltd.
- Perform duties in a proficient and professional manner to commensurate with their academic and technical skills and training.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
(A) EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
- Diploma in Biomedical Science or similar equivalent
