Job Description:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Lighting and Electrical Technician to implement, and maintain electrical and lighting systems. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical knowledge in electrical engineering, with a specialization or experience in lighting systems, including lighting related programming.
The role involves working closely with lighting designers, architects, contractors, and project managers to ensure timely installation, testing, commissioning and documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
Design & Planning:
Design electrical and lighting systems for buildings and infrastructure in accordance with applicable codes (e.g., NEC, IESNA).
Develop lighting layouts, circuiting plans, and load calculations using AutoCAD, Revit, or other electrical design software.
Perform photometric analyses to ensure appropriate lighting levels and energy efficiency.
Project Development:
Collaborate with architects, mechanical engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate lighting and power systems into overall building designs.
Select appropriate lighting fixtures, control systems, and power distribution components.
Prepare technical drawings, specifications, and documentation for project submission and permitting.
Installation & Commissioning:
Support or oversee installation of lighting and electrical systems on-site, ensuring compliance with design and safety standards.
Conduct inspections and quality assurance tests during and after installation.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues during installation or commissioning phases.
Sustainability & Compliance:
Incorporate energy-efficient lighting solutions (e.g., LED, smart lighting, daylighting).
Ensure compliance with LEED, WELL, ASHRAE, or other green building standards when applicable.
Stay updated with local and national electrical codes and industry best practices.
Maintenance & Support:
Provide technical support for maintenance teams and respond to lighting or electrical system failures.
Recommend upgrades or improvements to enhance energy efficiency and system performance.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or in progress.
Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit MEP, Dialux, AGi32).
Strong understanding of lighting principles, control systems, and power distribution.
Knowledge of codes such as NEC, IES standards, and local building regulations.
Excellent communication and project coordination skills.
