[What the role is]The Veterinary Council (VC) will be responsible for governing and regulating the professional, ethical and practical standards of the veterinary profession in Singapore. The VC will oversee the registration of veterinary professionals, the accreditation of veterinary education and the upholding of professional conduct for veterinary professionals. It will work closely with other professional boards, veterinary professionals, educational institutions and government agencies to achieve these goals.

The VC Secretariat will support the VC for its secretariat and operational functions, including managing registration, accreditation, and disciplinary processes. Thus, it will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth functioning of the VC in fulfilling its responsibilities.
You will be part of the VC Secretariat team in the Licensing Branch, under the Industry Standards and Regulatory (ISR) Division of NParks. You will play a key role in maintaining and upholding professional standards within the veterinary industry.
Your scope of work includes:
- Provide secretarial support to the VC and related committees
- Develop, administer and review new scheme(s), including evaluating applications, making recommendations to the VC on the suitability of the applicants and maintaining databases
- Manage policies and continuing education and professional development of veterinary professionals
- Develop and implement a comprehensive disciplinary framework for veterinary professionals
- Develop and work on IT system development and enhancements
- Provide support for projects undertaken by department and organisation
[What we are looking for]
- Areas of study in Veterinary Science, Biological Sciences or relevant subject is preferred
- Experience in veterinary practice or equivalent experience in regulatory fields is preferred
- Experience in disciplinary procedures, regulatory bodies or enforcement is highly advantageous
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage sensitive situations, and build strong working relationships with a range of stakeholders
- Good IT skills e.g. sound applied knowledge of Microsoft Office
