Key Responsibilities:
- Design, configure, and implement network infrastructure including LAN, WAN, WLAN, and cloud-based networks to support the organization’s communication and data requirements.
- Install and configure network hardware such as routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and wireless access points.
- Monitor network performance using tools like SolarWinds, PRTG, or Wireshark to identify issues, analyze traffic patterns, and optimize network performance.
- Diagnose and resolve network issues including latency, connectivity, configuration errors, and outages in a timely manner.
- Maintain and troubleshoot firewalls and security appliances to ensure secure access and prevent unauthorized intrusion or cyber threats.
- Configure and manage VPNs and remote access to support secure connectivity for remote employees and branch offices.
- Manage IP addressing and subnetting , DHCP, DNS configurations, and related network services to ensure efficient and secure communication.
- Document network topologies, configurations, and changes using diagrams and technical documentation for reference and audits.
- Coordinate with other IT teams (e.g., sysadmins, DevOps, security teams) to integrate network solutions with servers, applications, and cloud environments.
- Plan and implement network upgrades and migrations to ensure the network remains up to date and scalable.
- Respond to incidents and service requests , providing technical support to internal teams and escalating issues as needed.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., ISO, PCI-DSS) and internal IT policies and procedures.
- Conduct network capacity planning and forecasting to anticipate future needs and avoid performance bottlenecks.
- Assist in disaster recovery planning and testing to ensure network continuity during outages or emergencies.
- Train and mentor junior staff or provide guidance to cross-functional teams on network best practices.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
- 3+ years of hands-on experience as a Network Engineer, Network Administrator, or similar role
- Strong understanding of networking protocols and services, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, and MPLS
- Experience configuring and managing enterprise-grade network hardware , including switches, routers, and firewalls (Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet, Palo Alto, etc.)
- Familiarity with network security best practices , such as firewall configuration, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and access control
- Hands-on experience with VPN technologies , including IPsec, SSL VPN, and site-to-site VPN configurations
- Proficient with network monitoring, diagnostic, and performance tools , such as SolarWinds, Nagios, Wireshark, PRTG, or similar
- Ability to design and implement scalable, redundant, and secure network infrastructure
- Working knowledge of cloud networking (AWS VPC, Azure Virtual Network, Google Cloud Platform)
- Understanding of SD-WAN, VoIP, QoS, and wireless technologies
- Experience with scripting or automation tools (e.g., Python, Ansible, PowerShell) is a plus
- Strong documentation skills and experience with diagramming tools like Visio, Lucidchart, or Draw.io
- Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills , with the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical stakeholders
- Willingness to participate in on-call rotations and respond to emergency network outages
- Certifications preferred :
o Cisco (CCNA, CCNP, CCIE)
o Juniper (JNCIA, JNCIP)
o CompTIA Network+ or Security+
o Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer (PCNSE)
