Job Description
The Procurement Associate will work closely with the Procurement Manager to execute daily procurement functions. This includes sourcing suppliers, handling purchase orders, maintaining inventory levels, managing vendor relations, and ensuring timely delivery of a broad range of steel products. The role is essential in supporting the seamless operation of our supply chain and sales activities.
Key Responsibilities include the following tasks:
- Source and procure a wide range of steel products, including pipes (seamless, ERW, galvanised, stainless), flanges, fittings, plates, structural steel, and general steel bars.
- Raise RFQs, evaluate quotations, and assist in vendor selection based on price, quality, and delivery performance.
- Generate accurate purchase orders based on stock levels, project needs, and sales forecasts.
- Monitor order fulfilment progress.
- Maintain strong professional relationships with existing and new vendors.
- Track and evaluate vendor performance, including pricing consistency, delivery timelines, and material quality.
- Liaise with warehouse and sales departments to manage inventory requirements effectively.
- Ensure accurate documentation of procurement transactions and maintain up-to-date records of supplier details, pricing, and contracts.
- Compile procurement status reports, order tracking sheets, and pricing comparisons for management review.
- Highlight risks such as low stock, late deliveries, or price fluctuations.
- Support cycle counts and stock audits by providing procurement and receiving documentation.
Key Requirements
- Minimum Diploma in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Administration.
- Minimum 2 years of working experience in procurement, preferably within the steel or construction materials sector.
Skills & Competencies
- Preferably with knowledge of steel products and specifications.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
- Effective communicator
