The School of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology (CCEB) invites applications for the position of Project Officer. The Project Officer is required to spearhead the project involving imaging of 2D materials, from synthesis of nanomaterials, characterization, investigating their nanoscale catalytic properties using optical and electron microscopy, to presentation of research results.
The Project Officer will take on a significant role in performing imaging experiments and data analysis, drafting reports and publications, administrative duties such as purchasing consumables, training of undergraduate students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Writing programs for data analytics.
- Draft reports and scientific publications.
- Train graduate and undergraduate students.
- Administrative duties such as purchase of chemicals and consumables, coordination of collaborations, and presentations of research progress.
- Obtain quotations to purchase chemicals and consumables that cost <$6k.
- Draft reports to purchase consumables that cost >$6k.
Job Requirements:
- BSc in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics or a related field, a strong publication record.
- Fluent in programming in C, C++, Python, MATLAB. Use both Microsoft Office suite and other scientific data processing software, such as Origin.
- Experienced in the preparation of 2D materials, and familiar with a range of characterization techniques such as XRD, XPS, SEM, TEM, AFM, optical/electron microscopy, photocatalysis and electrochemistry.
- Should have prior experience analyzing reaction kinetics and dynamics.
