About the role
We are now recruiting for a Senior Charterer / Charterer to join our global chartering team in Singapore. This role will support the Chartering team and collaborate closely with various commodity business units to deliver safe, timely, and efficient shipping services while navigating a dynamic market.
Reporting to the Panamax Global Portfolio Manager, you will:
Negotiate charter contracts with shipowners to achieve favorable terms and optimize supply chain value.
Active engagement with external shipowners and broker networks to develop and maintain commercial relationships, ensuring sustainable access to safe and efficient tonnage.
Collaboration with internal stakeholders to optimize supply chain value, uplift safety standards and vessel performance, and resolve issues when required.
Monitor and analyze market trends to identify risks and opportunities to augment the Chartering team's strategy.
Develop a sound understanding of mine-to-customer supply chain interdependencies.
Manage contract performance, vessel nominations, regular market reports, and accurate contract data entry.
Safeguard the business by always acting within governance frameworks and compliance principles.
About you
To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
Bachelor's Degree in Finance/ Economics/ Business/ Maritime, or related field.
1-3 years of experience in a Trading/Commercial role is preferred.
Clear communication and able to collaborate constructively in a team.
Proficient in using Microsoft Excel and IMOS platform.
Independent, driven, and curious to learn.

Headquartered in Singapore and integrated with Rio Tinto’s assets, hubs, and offices globally, our Commercial group works hand-in-hand with our product groups to ensure both the amount and types of products we produce meet our customers’ needs and manage the trade-off between volumes, quality, cost, and capital expenditure.
