Jurong Port’s multipurpose port operating expertise includes efficient handling of general, bulk and containerized cargo, management and operations of the Tuas Offshore Marine Centre, and Lighter Terminals in Penjuru and Marina South. Besides Singapore, Jurong Port is involved in overseas joint ventures in China and Indonesia. In 2016, Jurong Port’s local and overseas terminals handled close to 35 million tons of general and bulk cargo, and 560,000 TEUs of container cargo.
The Job
1. Technical Evaluation and Reviews
• Evaluate vendors’ technical capabilities and proposed solutions during tenders or Requests for Quotation (RFQ).
• Review technical specifications and ensure solutions are robust, scalable, high-performing, and aligned with Jurong Port’s Enterprise Architecture.
• Conduct source code reviews to ensure adherence to coding best practices and standards.
2. Technical Implementation
• Manage deployments across various environments (SIT, UAT, PROD).
• Collaborate with project managers and vendors to execute and support SIT/UAT.
• Review and validate testing outcomes to ensure timely resolution of technical issues.
• Work closely with Corporate IT (Systems and Network teams) and Enterprise Architecture teams on infrastructure setup.
• Design and develop technical solutions for projects and change requests.
3. Innovation
• Propose conceptual designs using industry best practices and perform proof of concepts (PoCs).
• Identify and recommend innovative digital solutions to support the organization’s digital transformation roadmap.
4. Change Management
• Perform impact analysis for application changes.
• Review and validate effort estimations submitted by vendors or offshore developers to ensure they are fair and reasonable.
5. Security by Design
• Collaborate with the Cyber Security team to ensure all proposed solution designs meet established cybersecurity requirements.
Requirements:
• Degree or Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in application development.
• Strong programming foundation in object-oriented programming (OOP) and excellent analytical skills.
• Proficient in Java and Java EE technologies.
• Solid experience in application design, development, and support.
• Strong working knowledge of Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS), particularly Oracle and SQL.
• Experience in assessing and recommending appropriate technology stacks and solutions based on project or business requirements.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to think creatively and strategically.
