Job purpose:
As a Director in Structured Export & Trade Finance (m/f/d) based in Singapore, you are the central point of contact at Commerzbank for export finance transactions in South-East Asia with a focus on origination. The scope of activities also includes the commercial loans provided to sovereigns or banks in the region.
You have several years of experience in export finance within the Asia-Pacific region and you have established contacts with representatives of ministries, banks and corporates in Asian emerging markets.
In your new role, you focus on developing business opportunities for export finance transactions in selected countries across South-East Asia and maintain regular contact with the relevant stakeholders. You work closely with our regional offices in Asia and jointly explore market opportunities and product developments.
You originate transactions, secure mandates and together in a transaction team, taking the lead as Transaction Director in the discussions with South-East Asian borrowers. This includes coordinating relevant internal and external stakeholders and preparing documents for transaction-specific decision-making processes.
Key activities:
- Act as a Transaction Director in the SETF franchise to originate financing transactions under ECA or other appropriate covered scheme to emerging market borrowers across South-East Asia.
- Support the origination of commercial loans to sovereigns and banks in the region.
- Maintaining and developing relationships mainly with Asian borrowers.
- Support, if and where needed, the internal approval process efficiently and effectively, maintaining a good reputation towards credit.
- Support, if and where needed, the structuring, documentation and execution of deals originated.
- Assist SETF Management in developing and implementing strategies for growth in the region.
- Work across client groups to ensure the best outcome for our clients and the bank.
- Facilitate and maintain open and collaborative communication within the team.
- Ensuring strict compliance with the Bank's policies and procedures, being the first line of defence of the bank.
Formal education:
Degree in economics, business administration, finance or a similar qualification
Specialist knowledge (work experience, further qualification):
- Extensive knowledge of and several years of practical experience in export finance in Asian emerging markets (ideally including Indonesia, Vietnam etc.)
- Dealing safely with representatives of ministries and banks
- Deep understanding the regulatory challenges in corporate and bank financing in emerging markets (e.g. sanctions, KYC requirements, Basle regulations) as well as experience in the risk analysis of international borrowers
