Job Description
Purchasing in the region "APAC" is responsible for the strategic and operational sourcing of Production Materials (PM), Non-Production Materials (NPM) as well as components, parts and trading goods. "APAC" region comprises all countries Asia Pacific region in which Continental has own operations and/or suppliers.
One core strategic pillar of Purchasing is sustainability. In the field of sustainability we are looking for a highly motivated candidate for the region located in Singapore.
This position will be established for Continental Tires.
Your tasks:
- Conduct responsible value chain ("RVC") risk analysis, as well as corrective actions derived from risk analysis or incident cases in direct contact with our suppliers in "APAC" region and in alignment with Purchasing Sustainability in the headquarter (Hannover, Germany)
- Roll-out the Purchasing sustainability strategy (decarbonization, due diligence, circular economy, forced labor prevention, Tier-n analysis) and rule framework into the "APAC" Purchasing region and represent the region in the sustainability purchasing strategy processes
- Build a network within the APAC Purchasing organization (incl. Continental Offtake Asia, PM, NPM,…) to implement Sustainability in the related purchasing processes and to support the purchasing community.
- Map and maintain the regional purchasing portfolio (suppliers, purchased goods) and monitor sustainability performance of suppliers
- Improve suppliers regarding due diligence, compliance and sustainability performance in the fields of responsible value chain, decarbonization, renewable materials and circularity (e. g. certifications, standards), including developing and conducting supplier trainings, in alignment with related functions; best practice sharing with related functions
- Engage in internal and external networks to further develop and maintain state-of-the art Sustainability expertise related to environmental protection, human rights as well as social and ethical standards
- Support sustainability audits
- Document and report all related activities
- Support monitoring local regulations with respect to responsible sourcing in "APAC"
Qualifications
- University degree, preferably in Sustainability, Economics, Business Administration or Chemical or Environmental Engineering
- Minimum of 3 years of professional or academic experiences, preferably in purchasing
- Knowledge of ISO14001, ISO45001 and sustainability audit standards (e. g. SA8000) desirable
- Independent work with strengths in execution, networking and ability to translate strategy into action
- Project management experience
- Very good knowledge of MS Office programs, especially Excel and Teams. Willingness to engage suppliers via a new Purchasing Suite solution.
- Fluent written and spoken English; German skills desirable
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- High ability to work in a (virtual) team
- Intercultural competence
