Role Purpose
To support the course development team by sourcing appropriate figures, tables, and diagrams for study guides.
The role focuses on identifying sources, checking usage rights, and suggesting replacements when necessary.
Key Responsibilities
1. Image & Visual Content Sourcing
Identify Missing Source Information
Review study guides to find figures, tables, and diagrams with missing or unclear sources or captions.
Search for Original or Equivalent Images
Use reliable sources (websites, online databases, publisher sites) to locate the original version of the visual content.
Look for suitable replacements when original visuals cannot be used or sourced.
2. Copyright & Terms of Use Review
Check Licensing and Permissions
Read and interpret the Terms of Use of websites and publishers.
Determine if the visual content is:
Free for educational or non-commercial use
Licensed under Creative Commons
Requiring permission or purchase
Record Usage Conditions
Document copyright status and usage rights for each visual found.
Flag any content that needs further review or approval.
3. Content Documentation & Tracking
Maintain a visual sourcing log with:
URLs and access dates
Screenshot or file of the image
Copyright/licensing status
Work closely with project managers to update visuals in study guides accordingly.
Working Style & Expectations
Be thorough and detail-oriented in checking visual content.
Communicate promptly if a visual cannot be sourced or cleared.
Collaborate with the assigned project manager to ensure content meets copyright and educational standards.
