The Senior Operations Manager (Also known as Cell Leader) is responsible for overall business goals of the assigned operation cell for the plant. This role reports to the Value Stream Leader.Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- As Cell Leader, you will drive achievement for performance on Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost
- Manage a team of operation leader, product engineers, supervisors and technicians
- Implement strategies to achieve EHS, Quality, Productivity, Cost, Delivery, Resource Utilization, People Development and Compliance
- Manage Bullet Train expenses, employee overtime, job cost
- Drive and implement growth strategies for cell
- Direct process/product improvement programs and provide process method excellence throughout the organization
- Manage communications with key stakeholder
- Select, hire, train, develop and provide ongoing leadership and direction of assigned personnel
- Interface with other organizations and vendors to assure requirements are met on time
- Interface with internal and external customers to ensure their requirements are met
- Drive Lean mindset to drive cell performance
- Responsible for EHS, Quality Framework leadership. Execute audit plans and responsible for product RCA
- Drive safety and quality culture through STOP WORK, concern reporting, risk reduction / quality improvement projects, hazard hunts, layered process reviews, read across, management of change
- Drive cell performance through effective usage of lean digital resources
- Lead Lean action workouts and drive completion for Kaizen actions
- Perform Heijunka, implement flow, perform daily management, drive problem solving culture, achieve TAKT attainment
- Partner with global teams from Materials, Optimization, Special Process, Engineering, Productivity, Lean to optimize production through pull system to ensure on-time delivery
- Support WIP Inventory reduction, drive wing-to-wing lead time reduction, achieve productivity target, perform total productivity maintenance
- Coach OMLPs/Ops Leaders/Engineers & develop operation leaders with Lean Mindset
- Engage employees through toolbox, skip levels, 1x1. Drive You-Matter conversation, encourage diversity and inclusion
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor Degree in Engineering or suitable practical experience
- Strong experience in manufacturing, operation or equivalent management role
Desired Characteristics
- Strong team player
- Strong interpersonal, inclusive leadership, communication & coaching skills
- Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects
- Able to anticipate, identify and resolve complex business issues, working with multiple stakeholders
- Six Sigma/Lean Black or Green Belt Certification would be desired
- Knowledge of Lean and/or alternative continuous improvement methods would be desired
- Knowledge of heavy duty gas turbine repair methods and processes would have advantage
- Technical experience in Gas Turbine / Steam Turbine / Generator Services would have advantage
