An opportunity has arisen for an Accountant to join the Sugar team in Singapore.
We are seeking a self-starter and detail-oriented individual to build a career in the Sugar industry. With the desired attitudes and mindset, the Accountant will gain knowledge about commodity trading for future growth and development of a professional career in the agricultural commodity industry.

RESPONSIBILITIES
The Accountant is responsible for day-to-day finance activities and engages in financial and management reporting. The Accountant is seen as a business partner to the Commercial and Operations teams.
Key responsibilities include:
- Support daily treasury activities and regular cashflow forecast.
- Prepare and submit weekly & monthly management reports including but not limiting to AR ageing report and Counterparty risk report.
- Manage staff reimbursement and monitor petty cash imprest system.
- Handle full set of accounts, including AP, AR, GL, Fixed Assets, bank reconciliation and intercompany processes involving billing, confirmation, reconciliation, and settlement.
- Engage in month-end and year-end closing activities and ensure timely submission of financials according to group requirements.
- Reconcile financials between group and statutory records.
- Prepare, review and coordinate various GST/VAT and WHT submission.
- Coordinate audit and tax matters to ensure compliance with local statutory and group requirements.
- Liaise with banks on trade finance matters as required.
- Assist Finance Manager on internal control review and process enhancement as well as any ad hoc assignments.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Accountancy, Business, Business Administration and Business Finance
- At least 3 years of working experience in commodity trading or possess keen willingness to learn about commodity trading
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Dynamic team player with ability to work Independently
- Able to work in a methodical, detailed, and accurate manner
- Strong PC skills with proficient in Microsoft Office, accounting system (e.g. MYOB) and reporting system (e.g. Hyperion)
- Able to thrive in multitasking working environment and adhere to tight deadlines
- Possess positive attitude towards working overtime to fulfil duties as required
