External Managers Department
The External Managers Department seeks to identify and develop relationships with the best breed of global investment managers to benefit GIC at large, and at the same time capturing investment opportunities to outperform our benchmarks.
We are looking for a skilled and motivated candidate to join our team in Singapore as a Credit Portfolio Manager. The candidate will be part of an investment team which invests in funds run by external managers. Portfolio manager responsibilities include conducting manager selection and strategy due diligence, as well as structuring and monitoring fund investments. The candidate will specifically focus on public credit strategies, investing in both corporate and asset backed credit funds.
What impact can you make in this role?
You will be part of the GIC’s internal investment function where we award investment directives to external fund managers whose ability complements our own capabilities. We embrace an active investing approach for funds under external management to outperform public market benchmark indices.
What will you do as a Credit Portfolio Manager?
•Source, underwrite and monitor credit fund investments in corporate and structured products strategies, including investment grade and high yield long-only and absolute return funds
•Perform due diligence on prospective external fund investments including meeting managers and their teams, performing qualitative manager and strategy analysis, and performing quantitative track record analysis
•Monitor existing portfolio of fund investments, including regular updates with managers
•Work closely with internal teams on strategic direction of external fund investments
•Produce monthly / quarterly / annual internal reports and presentations at both fund and strategy level as well as provide summary insights from fund managers
What qualifications or skills should you possess in this role?
•At least 4 to 6 years of credit investing experience as fund allocator including long-only fixed income and credit investing
•Prior direct investing / credit underwriting experience preferred by not required
•Strong understanding of investment grade and high yield public corporate and securitized credit markets and fund strategies
•Excellent analytical ability and very high attention to detail
•Strong written and verbal communication skills including ability to craft clear and impactful Powerpoint presentations
•Be highly motivated and intellectually curious about markets and investing
•An independent thinker who can articulate his/her views effectively, both in verbally and in writing
•While comfortable working independently, the candidate should also be a collaborative team player with the ability to work across multiple teams
