About the Role
Britannia has an opportunity for an individual who will be responsible for handling P&I liability claims against members by providing assistance and advice to members of the Club in relation to their claims. This is a 6 months maternity cover. We are looking for someone passionate about maritime insurance with claims handling experience including container claims, preferably gained from within a P&I Club, ship owners or ships agents.

Your Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include the following:
- Main duties include the handling of P&I claims, providing advice on non-contentious issues (e.g. reviewing contracts and charter party clauses) and assisting Claims Directors.
- Other duties include estimation of files, attending meetings as necessary, meeting visiting correspondents and lawyers and preparation of file notes.
- Working as a member of a team dealing with Members based in allocated region, reporting as prescribed in the procedures manual.
- To handle P&I claims as delegated by the Claims Director, including cargo, collision, FFO and other types of claim.
- Manage Member contractual reviews including service, tug, rail, terminal, depot and stevedores and armed guards.
- To meet visiting Members, lawyers, surveyors and other experts as appropriate.
- To provide general advice and assistance as required by the Members.
- To attend and contribute to internal meetings as appropriate. Ad hoc duties as required.
About You
Knowledge/Experience
- 5 years of claims handling experience (including container claims), preferably gained from within a P&I insurer, ship owners or ships agents.
- Familiar with maritime liabilities.
- Understands all elements of P&I related claims and capable of managing casualty cases to a high standard.
- Understands all elements of cargo related claims (loss / damage).
- Possess creative problem solving skills
- Computer literate and familiar with all MS Office packages (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc) Knowledge of insurance software e.g. Electronic Document Management System or BPMS System equivalent (good to have)
Qualifications/Education
Graduate (preferably in a maritime-related subject).Competencies
