As a Lead Site Reliability Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Electronic Trading Service, you hold a leadership role in your team, demonstrate strong knowledge across multiple technical domains, and advise others on the technical and business issues facing them. Take lead and conduct resiliency design reviews, break up complex problems into digestible work for other engineers, act as a technical lead for medium to large-sized products, and provide advice and mentoring to other engineers.
Job responsibilities
- Demonstrates and champions site reliability culture and practices and exerts technical influence throughout your team
- Leads initiatives to improve the reliability and stability of your team’s applications and platforms using data-driven analytics to improve service levels
- Collaborates with team members to identify comprehensive service level indicators and stakeholders to establish reasonable service level objectives and error budgets with customers
- Demonstrates a high level of technical expertise within one or more technical domains and proactively identifies and solves technology-related bottlenecks in your areas of expertise
- Acts as the main point of contact during major incidents for your application and demonstrates the skills to identify and solve issues quickly to avoid financial losses
- Documents and shares knowledge within your organization via internal forums and communities of practice
- Assist with eyes-on-glass monitoring for alerts specific to the Electronic Trading space
- Interface with global exchanges, brokers and technology vendors on infrastructure products
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
- Formal training or certification on infrastructure disciplines concepts and 5+ years applied experience
- Possess deep knowledge of one or more areas of infrastructure engineering, such as hardware, networking terminology, deployment practices, integration, automation, scaling, resilience, or performance assessments.
- Develop and implement network solutions tailored to the needs of electronic trading environments, ensuring low latency and high reliability.
- Monitor network performance continuously and troubleshoot issues to ensure minimal downtime and optimal performance.
- Respond to network incidents and outages promptly, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
- Implement and manage network security measures, including firewalls, and update firewall policy rules.
- Design, configure, and manage load balancers, including F5 BIG-IP, to ensure efficient distribution of network traffic.
- Coordinate with Cisco, Arista, Fortinet and F5 support teams for troubleshooting and hardware replacements.
- Optimize network configurations to reduce latency and improve throughput, which is critical in trading environments.
Possess deep knowledge of one specific infrastructure technology and automation/scripting languages (e.g., Scripting, Ansible, Python, etc.).
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Understand deeply network design, implementation, and maintenance, and manage complex network environments to ensure the reliability, performance, and security of the trading infrastructure.
- Configure and manage Cisco routers and switches with proficiency, including knowledge of IOS and NX-OS.
- Demonstrate expertise in Arista's EOS and experience with Arista's low-latency switching solutions.
- Comprehend in-depth network protocols such as BGP, FHRP, and multicast.
- Utilize network automation tools and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Ansible) to automate network tasks and configurations.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of basic and advanced concepts in the fields/products/tools of: Network system architecture (processor, ASIC, FPGA, port capabilities, packet forwarding, buffers, etc.); a good knowledge of network routing protocols Multicast, PIM & IGMP ; IP packet analysis using Wireshark; Arista and Metamako product range; F5 and Fortinet product range; Latency monitoring - Corvil & Trading flows – FIX protocols
