Responsibilities:
Assist the Head of Legal in all legal, contractual, dispute, risk, compliance, governance, secretarial and all other matters in the Legal Department of the Company, particularly relating but not limited to the following matters:-
- Manage the onboarding KYC process and conduct periodic KYC reviews.
- Draft, review, and format legal documents, contracts, and internal memos related to commodities trading (gas), shipping, banking facilities agreements, and other company contracts. Maintain and update legal templates, corporate records, and contract management systems.
- Prepare and draft bilingual internal rules and regulations as per HQ (Mainland China) requirements, and conduct compliance reviews of internal rules and regulations.
- Coordinate with internal teams (trading, finance, operations) and external counsel and corporate secretary firms on legal matters.
- Oversee corporate governance-related matters and address daily operational matters with a focus on compliance with legal standards.
- Apply effective risk management techniques, develop business risk management strategies, and offer strategic solutions for potential legal issues.
- Promote legal, compliance, and risk management best practices throughout the company.
- Design and deliver legal training relevant to the business to enhance awareness and reduce risk.
- Stay updated on changes to legislation affecting the business and the LNG industry.
- Conduct legal research, write reports, and perform administrative tasks as needed in the Legal Department, build a data repository, and support the Head of Legal in running an efficient department.
- Other ad-hoc tasks as assigned by the Head of Legal.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Law Degree from local universities in Singapore (preferable) or the UK.
- Admitted to practise law in Singapore Courts (preferable) or UK Courts.
- Preferably with 1 to 2 years of working experience in law firms, or in international companies within similar industries. However, we will also consider newly admitted lawyers in the Singapore Courts.
- An ethical working attitude and will be diligent to carry out all the tasks assigned by the Head of Legal, whether challenging or non-challenging.
- Ability to work independently with minimal direction, able to work under pressure and on short notice with a deadline for deliverables.
- Proficient in written and spoken Mandarin to coordinate and provide legal assistance to Mandarin-speaking colleagues and counterparts..
- Disciplined, proactive and meticulous individual.
- Candidates who are able to start immediately or on short notices preferred.
